Ellie Grinrod was born to a pair of drunks here in Unity. Oh yes they drank, they fought, they got into trouble. Ellie watched it all play out. Unknown to.. well everyone? Ellie inherited a lust for power, a might makes right mentality, and an overall disregard for sleepers. She always had an interest in the occult. She read the Satanic Bible by Anton Lavey when she was 13 and it resonated with her completely. She found books written by other occultists as well. She was fascinated, even tried to do magic on her own, but something didn't "click" until later..
She was attempting yet another ritual she found in yet another occult book, focusing on her potential as a goddess, yes SHE is god, internalized deity.. what she did not expect was her hands to spout out fire and burn down the family home along with most of their possessions.
Ellie was soon after found by Berinon Kautzer, the Hermetic master of the realm. Ellie had awakened as a Mage the moment those flames burned down her house. She was tested further and then taken as an initiate. Strange things began to happen around her from time to time as well, although it was always explained away by her inability to control magic. She learned from her initial teachers that her desire for knowledge for the sake of power was a trait of House Tytalus. There were none of that house in the realm, but Master Kautzer encouraged her mentality. They encouraged her innovative approaches to foci, like preferring a seemingly well-decayed tree limb painted black for a wizards staff. She sees this staff as an extension of her desire to dominate, to possess, to become the most powerful wizard that her potential allows. But she also sees her potential to be yet another wall to crash through unscathed in the end. She does not see herself as having limits. Her avatar IS an ogre. Her brute strength is in her magic.
